All therapy services are self-pay only. However, we can work as an out-of-network provider with your insurance company. Before beginning counseling, it is recommended that you contact your insurance provider and ask how much they reimburse for “out-of-network mental health services”.

Archangel Catholic Counseling is an out-of-network provider. Sessions are not billed directly to insurance; clients pay the session fee at the time of service and may submit a superbill for partial reimbursement under their plan's out-of-network mental-health benefits. Before the first session it is worth calling the number on the back of your insurance card to ask about your out-of-network outpatient mental-health benefits, any deductible you need to meet first, and the reimbursement rate per session.

First, insurance companies sometimes deny services retroactively, leaving clients with large, unexpected bills. They can even “claw back” previous payments and demand they be returned. This is due to them deciding that certain diagnoses don’t actually need treatment.

Second, as Catholic counselors, we want to make sure your faith is central to your healing and treatment. How and what an insurance company will cover can get hazy when matters of faith are brought up. Being a self-pay practice means that we can guide you in mental health alongside your faith as much as necessary without worrying about how insurance will view this.

When working as an out-of-network provider with your insurance company, most plans will pay for a significant portion of our fee. After your sessions with us, we will email you an properly coded invoice that you can use to submit for reimbursement at the end of each month. We can not guarantee that your insurance will reimburse you for our services. It is the client’s responsibility to coordinate reimbursements with their insurance provider.

We understand that unexpected things happen that may require you to cancel a session. We require that cancelations happen 48 hrs. before your scheduled appointment. However, we understand that unexpected things can happen. If something drastic occurs and you need to cancel after the cancellation window, contact us and we’ll work together to find a solution.
